First Purchases

I'm pleased to announce that yesterday I bought our first start to food storage.

And... it wasn't even food. DOH!

I bought 10 packets of yeast (of 3 each, so 30 I guess), 3 gallons of bleach, two gallons of drinking water, 10 tubes of toothpaste and 12 toothbrushes.

So, we'll have some bacteria we can grow. We can't make it into bread without flour, but let's pretend a calamity won't befall us within the next month so I can remedy that next time.

But we'll have clean teeth. Really, clean, teeth. For a whole year! Hey, we can't feed ya, kids, but you can brush your teeth! Won't that be fun while you're starving to death?

It all takes time... just keep at it and it will surprise you how it will grow! If you get water in the "milk jug" containers make sure you are rotating it because the glue in the bottom of the container will deteriorate after time and you could end up with a mess..Our fresh water is in one of those 50gal drums I got from cal ranch for 24.00! You should call me... I have so munch info from my aunt that would just make you so happy. If you want any info on how to can fruit.. holler it's easy and it can be pretty cheap if you know where to get the supplies!

You are an inspiration to me! I will be following your example and stocking up on water, tooth paste, and bleach this month...and on chocolate. For me, chocolate is SOOOOOOO NECESSARY in an emergency.

Great start! You need healthy teeth so you can even eat the food in storage anyway.

Good job Natalie! It is good of you to get started- and with whatever is on sale that month might not hurt either.

Hahahaha!! Well, when the morgue guy is embalming all of you, you will have minty fresh breath. :) I think it's great that you're even doing anything. I really need to get on that.

We also have a year supply of toothbrushes and toothpaste and floss...the advantage of having a dentist for a husband. I never thought about my year supply needing more than food though, shows you how well I would survive.

Well, this is where the law of consecration comes in right? I don't know this is doctrine according to me-scary! You can always bring your toothbrushes over to our house and we have enough beans to keep everyone in gastric ditress through the milenium. (At least our teeth will be clean!)

I wonder what kind of concoction can you create with bleach, tooth paste, and yeast? It could be tasty right? Maybe
