We've Got a Piper Down; the Piper is Down

Yesterday my sister and I kind of had a Scottish-themed day.

First, we took our kids to a free movie, "The Water Horse". It's about the Loch Ness Monster. Jakob and Dylan were enthralled the whole time and loved it. Brock was okay with it. I don't think Sadie was really into it at all. And Troy...well, he was more interested in climbing on the chair and getting stuck when it folded up. He's just not heavy enough to keep the seat part down, but he's such a "big boy" that he didn't want my leg on it to keep it from folding itself, and him, in half. Ivy and Micah are babies; enough said. So, chaos reined, but that's kind of typical. However, the movie was free, and it gave the kids something to do. Will we attempt to do this outing again in the next few weeks for different shows? That remains to be seen. Maybe if we had some adult help (hint-hint, Mom or Lex...)!
Then that night we went with my Mom and Dad to a local production of "Brigadoon". I own the movie, so it was fun to see the differences between that and the play. There was one part where I was embarrassed for them; this girl did an interpretive dance. To bagpipe music. "Interesting" is the only way to describe it. I had to watch the piper in order to not laugh out loud. I guess I'm just not into the whole interpretive dancing thing. But other than that, they had really good singers for the main parts, and it was fun to get out with my parents for the night. Thanks, Dad!
And how could I do a post about Scottish stuff without doing a shout-out to "So I Married an Axe-Murderer"?
Classic! (Someday I'll learn to do the embed thing. Someday...)

Hey!!! How funny! We both posted about our Scottish-themed day! That's awesome! I was having a hard time not laughing at the interpretive dancing, too, though it was because that girl IS A HORRIBLE DANCER, not because it was an interpretive dance. What was up with those pique turns??
