He'll tell one of his brothers something to do, but there's no way they should be able to do the same to him. Troy: "Brock, sit down." Brock: "No, you sit down!" Troy: (pointing a threatening finger at his brother) "Don't tell me what to do!"
Troy is always asking me if I'm the one in charge, to which I reply that yes, yes I am. But then, when I'm not in the room, I overhear him telling his brothers or sister that he's the one in charge. A new phrase at our house, repeated several times during the day, is: "Troy, you are the boss of you." We have to let him know that he's in charge of himself, and his actions. We also have to tell him he is in charge of his toys (so he knows to clean them up since, you know, he's in charge).
However, he gets a little confused that both Pete and I are in charge. I mean, one of us has to be the boss, right? And maybe that's why he thinks that really, it should be him, at all times. Such a cute, delusional, three-year-old.

so funny. and true. I can see the logic. We are just entering that kind of phase...the girls have traded off the 'mother' roll...right now it's Avery. Kids. They're crazy.
Oh, that kid. He has so much moxy. Dylan is often confused about who is in charge, me or Ben. Sometimes Ben delivers stupid edicts - "Sadie, you can only have water to drink for an ENTIRE WEEK!!" And I quietly reverse those stupid edicts. So Dylan is like, "Dad said Sadie has to have water for a week." And I am like, "Yeah, but that's a stupid idea." "But Dad's in charge." And I say, "But Mommy is REALLY in charge." :)
At our house it's Erin who is always trying to be the mom. I find myself telling her that "You are NOT the mom" at least a few times a day. She readily gives out consequences to her sister and brother. Someday, she'll be a great mom. Just not to me or her siblings.
Oh- and I love Troy's pictures! What a little ham. Quite the change from the whole family picture fiasco of last year. (I think there needs to be a few more years before we can brave that again with the Petersen clan.)
Natalie is totally in that phase too. She thinks she is the boss and she loves to tell me, "If you're three and you want to ..... then you can."
