Lost

This is what happened to our computer yesterday:
Well, not literally. But it completely crashed. Just...curled up and died. We don't know why, or how. And we were going to lose EVERYTHING. Everything like every picture of Ivy from birth on. Like all of my little files (which would be like losing my mind). Like the I-Tunes music we've purchased. EVERYTHING.

Luckily, Pete is a master genius when it comes to computers. Luckily, he was able to move stuff around to our other computer. Luckily, before we had to completely wipe the hard drive, we saved some of our stuff.

Unluckily, we did end up losing the pictures from January and February of 2008. Unluckily, we lost some of our I-Tunes music. Unluckily, we lost the blurb digital scrapbook that I had been working on. (Luckily, though, I've been too busy to work on it much lately, so I wasn't very far into it. Still, though.)

Lesson learned: Back your stuff up! Put it on a disk far, far away. Or, have two computers, and double copy everything to both. And after doing that, still do a disk far, far away.

Now a moment of silence for my lost blurb book...

That stinks!! We have had that happen to us twice now. Once we lost everything and once we had to pay $150 to get a disk made with all of our stuff on it because, unluckily Jay isn't a computer genius.

oh sad day! I just thought about that the other day...so much info is on my pc's--yes we have two--but still, I need to back my stuff up!

Thanks for the reminder!

Oh no! Lucky for us Jaren is also somewhat of a computer genius and has saved us mucho $$$ when it comes to that stuff. He is always dreaming up new and better ways to back up all of my info. Thank heavens for that. I

I feel your pain. This happened to us. and we lost EVERYTHING! including Soren's bitrh pictures. But lucky for us I gave my mom and Dad our memory chip in our camera so they could have ALL my pictures and got those back from them. but there is still so much that we lost. I blogged about it. (sometime last year I think Juneish..if you wanna search and read about it). We have external heard-drives now for all our computers.

I'm now singing the ode to the backup CD every day....due to the impending death of my computer.

all gone.
now we have an external hard drive and we try to remember to update it frequently!

Ahhh, Nat....that totally sucks. I freak out when I lose just one post on blogger. I'm so freakin' sorry. Yeah, we need to figure out how to save our i-tunes stuff. Maybe you should tell us how...
